Maybelline Coloursensational Lipstick Reviews

Since it's finally warmer I think it's time to whip out these two gorgeous colours of lipstick from Maybelline. I bought these a couple of months ago and never got around to using them because I've been using my Max Factor Elixir stick in Vibrant Pink (which i absolutely love). But here I have from Maybelline the Colour Sensational The Shine in Mango Diamonds (top left) and Colour Sensational Vivids in Fuchsia Flash (top right). I don't do many lipstick reviews but I like to do my 'three kiss test' so you can see how much it transfers and how much product is left on the lips and also a smudge test.
Warning: a very photo heavy post!
Swatch - Fuchsia Flash & Mango Diamonds (left: no flash, right: flash)

Fuchsia Flash (before 3 kiss test)
Fuchsia Flash (post 3 kiss test)

You can see a huge difference between both pictures, initially it is a very vibrant Fuchsia which I think is quite similar to the MaxFactor Elixir stick but I still think its gorgeous. I don't find it overly dry or moisturising and it seems just right. After the Three Kiss Test the colour isn't completely gone but there is a signficant difference.

Mango Diamonds (before 3 kiss test)
Mango Diamonds (post 3 kiss test)
Can you see a huge difference from my hand swatch to the colour on my lips? There doesn't seem like there any lipstick on, it looks more like a gloss. Very disappointed since it's quite sheer and its just not showing up as gorgeous as the swatch was. Even after the Three Kiss Test you can see that the glossiness has just disappeared.

These two lines of lipstick by Maybelline have been released quite some time, the more recent line by Maybelline is the Whisper line which I have yet to try but pop online to Priceline they still have the 50% off Maybelline until tomorrow.

Blue Freeze - Maybelline

Maybelline - Blue Freeze
A new found love in Maybelline Blue Freeze, it seems to be a blue version of the Models Own  Deep Purple. A perfect description of Sydney's weather right now as well, with crazy freezing winds. Its a gorgeous deep blue that seems to come to life under the light and I just love it! The picture above is with flash  and the one below is without flash. When the picture is taken without flash or under dull light it looks like a shimmery black or dark blue but I just love how the colour changes with lighting.

Revlon POSH

My two absolute favourite colours are royal blue and various shades of green, and coming across a gorgeous green nail polish seems to be near impossible. I get quite picky with the type of green because some are just too dark and others are just too bright and neon but when I spotted this Revlon nail polish in Posh on sale at Target I was in love. You can see in both pictures there is not a dramatic difference in colour with or without flash, its just amazing. Haven't been doing much nail art lately because it's quite time consuming and I've been up to a dozen and one things and just haven't had the patience.

A day with Misa Avenue

Sydney has finally hit up some beautiful sun, but with crazy amounts of wind every now and then. I just wanted to post a more casual post about random bits and bobs (if you don't mind). So first of all lets go with something makeup related.

I found out over facebook on the Benefit Australia page that they're doing a Mascara Swap.... confused? Excited? I was jumping up and down and so excited that I took a trip to Myer in the City just to do the Mascara Swap. All you have to do is bring in an old mascara that you've finished up or don't like to use and swap it for a SAMPLE of the Benefit they're real mascara. And of course the lovely Benefit ladies are so happy to help out with anything else. I ended up trying the Porefessional primer which I think is amazing, and they have a package deal at the moment which I have yet to run back and buy.

Benefit They're Real mascara SAMPLE
I took a little stroll to the Chanel counter since I was in Myer already and well you know, I didn't have any nail polish on so yay to swatching Chanel polish? I swatched the gorgeous Chanel Peridot and I think it's amazing and beautiful. Definitely hoping to purchase this soon but it's not at the top of my shopping list just yet. Isn't it beautiful? in different lighting it gives off a different colour as well.
Chanel Peridot Nail Enamel
And the long awaited visit to the Magnum Pleasure pop up store in Westfield Sydney, and its right outside Thomas Sabo. So what the Magnum pleasure store does is pretty much the whole idea of adding toppings to your Magnum ice-cream, they have a huge range of toppings you can add like hazelnut, rose petals, dried strawberries, popping candy, and so much more. I had no idea whether these were freebies or whether we had to pay because Magnum didn't advertise any cost so Mia and I came to a decision that if it cost more than $6 we would share one, and the cost of each Magnum is actually $7. We had another friend join up in the line whilst we were waiting and she grabbed one herself.
It looks pretty and the whole experience is great but its $7, that's quite pricey for Magnum but with all the different toppings you can choose from its not that bad.  The coating of the chocolate that is dipped at the request of original chocolate, dark chocolate or white chocolate doesn't have that snap that boxed Magnums have it was more or a very soft type of chocolate which I personally did not like. With the four choices of toppings just piled up on the Magnum makes it quite messy to eat even though it looks so fancy with white chocolate drizzle. But if you're in the City and you happen to stroll by it's worth the experience.

Now moving onto some shoe news, I bought a few pairs of shoes off BrandsExclusive from the I love Billy and Fiebiger sales, and I've taken a picture of a pair of these because they seem to be what everyone's wearing at the moment. I love green and these were glittery pointed flats and I could not say no, nope, I was not passing these shoes. It's clear around the sides and most of the top part of the shoe as you can see, and when I tried them on I did not like them at all. It made my feet look fat, and I don't even have fat feet, and the green part at the top didn't cover all the toes clevage and it just did not look nice. It was such a pity though because celebrities make them look gorgeous, but I guess everyone's style is different and they just did not look good on me.

Revlon Midnight Blue

Have you ever bought nail polish and just forget you bought them? Definitely happens to me all the time and this Revlon Colorstay was actually from my May Haul  and I can't believe I've neglected all the nail polish from that particular haul. I've used the Revlon Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamel in Midnight Blue (290), this is my first polish from this collection and I'm sure they have changed the formula, on top of that the brush has changed and is very similar to Rimmel Nail polish.

Mini Review

It is a wider brush and it makes application much easier and the colour is definitely a dull blue on the dark side. Since its called midnight it definitely has that midnight feel to it. I did purchase this on sale from target for $9.95, and I think I'm up for trying out more colours from this collection. As usual I use my China Glaze base coat and Sally Hansen diamond flash top coat. I kept this nail polish on for a good 4 days, and didn't have signs of chipping or anything so I'm quite happy with their formula.

July Violet Box

I was very excited and couldn't wait for the July Violet Box, and the second it came I was bouncing on my toes to see what was in it. The box was a magnetic flap box with purple ribbon which was different to last month but I think it makes it look so much more luxurious in a sense since its more than just a normal black box. This month there were five products which included two full size products and three samples.

And shall we begin looking at each product more closely? I'm just so excited writing this post because I absolutely love this months box.

1. St Tropez Bronzing Mousse 50ml Sample size
(120ml RRP- $39.95, 240ml RRP - $59.95)
This is a self tanning bronzing mousse which claims to be "easy to apply, velvety mousse that delivers and ultra even tan." Since Australia is in the middle of winter many ladies are whipping out self tanners so they can have that gorgeous summer glow even in the dead of winter. I'm not a self tan type of person, and I pile on the sunscreen during summer to avoid tanning or burning. So even though I don't have any use for this bronzing mousse I think it's a great product to include in the Violet box.

 2. Catalina Geo Long and Deep Mascara  Full size + refill
RRP $31.50
A lengthening and water resistant mascara, and claimed to be suitable for sensitive eyes containing Vitamins B5 and E which relieves irritation. And GUESS WHAT? It comes with a refill!!! Oh My!!! I couldn't believe it that it was a full size mascara + a full size refill. That's just too good to be true, but yes its true! I cannot wait to start using this mascara and review it for you all.

3. ModelCo SHINE Ultra Lip Gloss Full Size RRP $18.00
"A reflective shimmering lip gloss that creates a glamarous lacquered effect for the lips. Non-sticky formula glides on evenly leaving your lips with a luscious, long lasting shine and lustre." The lipgloss I received came in Strip Tease, which is a light pink in the tube but when swatched it comes out very sheer. The lip gloss features an inbuilt mirror which definitely comes in handy when applying lip gloss.  My only problem is that even though it states that it is a non-sticky formula I find it quite sticky on my lips, I feel like my lips are sticking together and whenever I open my mouth I can feel the stickiness.

4. Aphelia Peony 9+5 Advanced Beautifying Eye Creme Sample size
(15ml RRP $69)
"Contains the most powerful micronised herbal extracts. A daily anti-ageing treatment creme designed for the delicate eye that contains natural multi vitamins and powerful antioxidants to help fight fine lines, reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffy eyes."
A very small sample of Peony eye cream possibly, when I saw the RRP of a 15ml bottle I was shocked at how expensive it was and very happy that a sample was in this month Violet Box. Even though I'm at quite a young age I haven't got many fine lines around my eyes but will be getting Mum to try this and see if it works.

 5. Adorn Cosmetics Eye Create Intensive Shadow, Shade & Eye Create Matte Shadow - two samples
(1.5g RRP $15)
These two little goodies were wrapped in pink tissue paper which made me more excited to see what was wrapped underneath. I received the Intensive shadow in Jasper which is a gorgeous shimmery gold bronze, and the Matte shadow in Quartz which is a matte brown grey. I'm absolutely terrible at trying to describe colour so I've swatched them and you can see it in the picture above. Very happy with these two colours since they do remind me of some of the eyeshadows from Urban Decay Naked Palette.

Absolutely LOVE this month's Violet Box, with two full size products you are getting your money's worth since it does cost $22.95 per month. More expensive than other beauty boxes but this month was very much worth it. On top of the five products there were three promotional codes included for Adorn Cosmetics ($15 gift voucher), Makeup Australia code (30% off foundation) and Aphelia code ($10 off Peony Eyecream).

I will be giving Violet Box another month since I'm very satisfied this month and secretly hoping that there will be a Nail Polish next month!

Can't wait till the next box!

Natio Haul

NATIO!!! I wasn't drawn towards this brand until I had a mini haul a few months ago with their little treasure nail polish and I knew I had to go back to Myer and get a few more. This time I went with their normal sized polishes and grabbed the two lip butters they have.

NATIO Twilight
NATIO Lychee
NATIO Kashi
NATIO lip butter in peach and candy

Natio Lip Butter Candy (left) and Peach (right)
I haven't tried the Natio polishes yet but two of them seem to have a shimmery metallic consistency and I hope the consistency is the same as the Little treasures. I've swatched the lip butters and they have an amazing consistency. They glide on smoothly and seem very moisturising the picture on the left was taken with flash and the right without flash. See how much the colours come through its amazing! and they transfer just like that. They only have two colours but I think it will suit everyone! Comment below and let me know what you think and if you've tried it.
