China Glaze Haul & New top coats

Hi guys, we're currently in Singapore but I wanted to share with you my haul before I left for Singapore, and such a genius I am buying China Glaze online, I should have just waited until I got to Singapore but what can I do.

Usually you all know I use Revlon's Top coat, and its served me well over the last couple of years and I've never really strayed from it since its super and does the job. So I was down to the very last 0.5ml of the bottle and I needed a new topcoat or I wouldn't be doing my nails until I got my hands on one. Mia told me Sally Hansen top coats seem to be recommended by manicurists and I thought why not, lets give it a try. Whilst hunting for simply a top coat, I ended up buying some China Glaze polishes online. So I have really quick reviews below of each polish and a more in depth review might be coming soon.
Cutex Long wear top coat & Sally Hansen Diamond Flash
I bought these both from Chemist Warehouse and from memory Cutex didn't cost over $10 and Sally Hansen was around $15. I wasn't too happy with the Cutex top coat, it made my nail polish have air bubbles and it just looked absolutely terrible. Sally Hansen on the other hand was amazing, it smooths out the nail polish and ultimately has amazing shine to it.
China Glaze (left to right): Strong Adhesion base coat, No-Chip Top Coat
Honestly, I don't see much difference between basecoats they all generally do the same and I haven't seen any difference in using the China Glaze topcoat, so far.
China Glaze (left to right): Peachy Keeny, Aztec Orange, Fifth Avenue, Manhunt

Swatch

These four are my first China Glaze polishes so I didn't have much expectation and I was surprised at the inconsistency between all the bottles.
(Top to bottom quick review)
Fifth Avenue: a very nice consistency, with great coverage even with just one coat
Manhunt: A gorgeous blue, dupe of OPI Dating a Royal
Peachy Keen: very thick consistency and I think I need to add some thinner in, but great with just one coat
Aztec Orange: Very thin consistency that I thought it would be sheer but it's not, looks amazing with two coats

Singapore Week 1!

It has been fantastic in Singapore so far, the country is absolutely amazing! We spent the first day at Orchard Rd, the famous shopping district in Singapore. To see so many shopping centres at one time it looks like Sydney's Westfields repeated ten times across each street. A lot of the stores tend to be high end, such as Prada and Louis Vuitton. We were absolutely excited to see H&M, Uniqlo and Sephora in Singapore! We don't have the stores in Sydney at the moment, so it was a fantastic change.

IMPRESSION: Sephora Singapore?
Surprisingly not as much of a bargain hunting store, the prices are similar to Sydney. The only difference would probably be a few dollars cheaper due to the exchange rate. Although we still managed to grab a bunch of products!

IMPRESSION: Watsons Singapore?
There's more variety in terms of beauty brands in comparison to Watsons in Hong Kong and China. Not only do they stock the usual drugstore brands (Garnier, Maybelline), they also have KATE, Canmake and so much more. It is evident that they keep up to date with the beauty trends by stocking the Cure Natural Aqua Gel (which seems to be difficult to find everywhere else). The best Watsons we went to was probably the one in Takashimaya

Below are some of the places we've been to so far!

Travel Beauty Essentials

It seems we have chosen extremely humid places to visit on our travel journey. This sticky humid weather is all worth it though, there is nothing I love more than summer and sunshine beaming into my room. So right now we're in Singapore and enjoying the air-con at our hotel room. We cannot wait to share with you our (hopefully) successful hauls and the fun we will have!

Our late dinner last night at the Hotel

After coming back from Gold Coast, we packed similar skincare and makeup to Singapore.

Make up I have brought along include:

  • Sportsgirl Protect Me Sunscreen
  • Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector
  • MAC Concealer in NC25
  • MAC Studio Fix Plus Foundation
  • Bobbi Brown Pastel Eye Shadow Palette
  • Lancome Hypnose Waterproof Mascara
  • Dollywink Eyeliner
  • Missha Shimmering Ball Blusher
  • Make Up Eyelash 02 Elegant False Eyelashes
  • Sigma Brush Set
Makeup

I packed along the basics at the moment, as I know we will be able to buy make up from our local Watsons if needed. Brought along the Bobbi Brown Pastel Eye Shadow Palette instead of the Naked Palette, due to it's size and brighter range of colour. I have been using the colour at the end as a highlighter. If we do decide to explore Singapore's night life, this palette would be easily use for a brown smokey eye and then I can add on my false lashes!

Skincare products:
  • Haruhada's Hyaluronic Acid to remove makeup
  • Garnier Pure 3 in 1 Cleanser
  • Cucumber Toner
  • My Beauty Diary Shining & Moisturising Sleeping Mask (to hydrate the skin at night!)
  • Pond's Flawless White with SPF 15 (as a day moisturiser)
Skincare
So we will be in Singapore for 5 days! We are heading to the famous shopping road, Orchard Rd. Fingers crossed our wallets won't be emptied out today.

Nude in Autumn/Spring

So recently I made two posts on Nine West nail polish and I honestly can't get enough of how great their polishes are. Twice in a row I've been sporting this nude colour, the difference is I didn't do anything else but the nude. They have an amazing consistency which I know I've probably mentioned before but I can't believe how amazing it is.

Neutral colours are great for the transition between seasons and especially if you want to make your fingers look longer. Why I say its a great transitional colour because from winter to spring jumping from darker colours straight into brighter colours might make you hesitate in applying brighter colours just because your not use to it yet or even to match clothing. And same for us in Sydney when we're hitting up Autumn and I'm personally hesitating slightly to hit up the darker colours.

We also got our first comment ever on this blog and Mia and I were ecstatic!! There are people actually reading what we are posting!! We would love to hear from more of you, because it would just put us over the moon.

Adieu Summer/Hello Spring

Sydney is in the months of Autumn but we're still hitting temperatures in the high 20's. Which totally sucks because I LOVEEEEEEE WINTER!

But to bid the Summer goodbye I hit up the brighter tropical colours! I went for an alternate scheme and used Revlon's Mock snob - coral peachy colour, and Revlon's Tangerine which is and lovely orangey yellow with very fine glitter. And as usual I used the Revlon base coat and the Revlon top coat.

Revlon's Mock Snob is part of the top speed collection and the first coat dries quicker than normal nail polish however the second coat is about the same. My nails kind of remind me of candy corn but just more candy in general.

BUT... for those in the the US and Asia you're entering the lovely season of SPRING, blossoming flowers, chirping birds and the smell of freshly cut grass. It's a great colour to match the lovely coral colours you will be wearing from your wardrobe.

Portman Polishes Review

Picked up these beautiful polishes from Portmans, they were $7.95 of 2 for $10. They had them near the counter and I was instantly drawn to the blue. Purchased two colours in Lilac and Alluring Midnight. I haven't seen anything quite like the shade of the blue that reflected in the bottle.

I have to say the Alluring Midnight looked prettier in the bottle than on my fingers, but is still a wonderful colour and only took 2 coats. The downside is it started chipping the next day and came off easily.

Surprisingly, the colour Lilac does not chip as easily and only required 2 coats. Overall, they are okay, I probably would not purchase their metallic range again considering how fast they chip.

March/Early April Haul

Hello Everyone!

It's the second month of Autumn in Sydney, so it's time to stock up on Winter skincare products and grab a new winter foundation!

We ordered numerous items from Sasa from candy to cotton puffs. Can't wait to review some of the products for you guys! These Sasatinnie Fruit Yoghurt BonBons are deliciously addictive! (My favourite is peach, we ordered apple, blackcurrant and mandarin this time!)

Stepped into Myer the other day and they moved the Illamasqua counter. I haven't tried their products before but was looking for a new foundation to try. Walked around and the make up artists at Illamasqua are super friendly and helpful! They recommended their primer and foundation to me, definitely can't wait to try this and give a review!

Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation - $41
Illamsqua Matt Primer - $35

Definitely loving their price point, rather than paying $80 in Australia for a bottle of foundation. Their prices have been reduced and are quite similar to what others pay in England/America.

Oh so Nude!

Without flash
With flash

I bought these two polishes from Nine West, check out my post here.

They are AMAZING! absolutely smooth and beautiful coverage with just TWO COATS. I've featured my ring finger with the pink and it blends into the neutral polish very well. I love neutrals they go well with anything and everything.

These nail polishes are very cheap at $9.95 and can be bought at Nine West stores. They are 15ml bottles that are made in Australia. If I recall there were a few other colours that seemed more summery so I'm hoping a new collection will come in for autumn and winter.

Nine West Polish

A while ago I stopped by Nine West with a friend and realised they sold NAIL POLISH!!! I had no idea but apparently they've had it in for a few seasons now. They are at a very affordable price of $9.95, and they are Made in Australia with each bottle being 15ml.

I was won over when the sales lady mentioned OPI and DING! I was intrigued and captivated, when i first bought them I believed that they were made by OPI but it was a misinterpretation on my half I think? Or she must have meant they were like OPI. But I bought a neutral nude colour and a candy type pink. They don't seem to have names which is a bummer but they do have numbers, 357 and  3323. They have great consistency and glide on smoothly and have great coverage! Absolutely amazing for $9.95 and I think I'm going to head back to get a few more colours.

Check out our swatch here.

Louboutin nails

 Christian Louboutin inspired nails
Ladies get ready to wear some Louboutin's on your... NAILS! That's right a nail design inspired by the beautiful shoes by Christian Louboutin, the famous shoes with red soles.

- Revlon Get Reddy
- Revlon Black Lingerie

1. Working with the bottom/underneath the nail paint them red. Go a little crazy it's okay if it's messy you can just clean everything up later.
Red sole painted

 2. Without forgetting base coat paint your nail beds black
3. TOP COAT =)

And because the red isn't that obvious (because who really looks underneath someone's nails?) I did a feature on my ring finger. It has a matte top coat with gold caviar beads and a quilted look.

I absolutely love whoever came up with this inspired design, I was roaming around on pin interest looking at Louboutin heels and saw these nails and knew at once I had to go for it. And I haven't painted my nails black in so long! This design works better with longer nails, the longer the better, I will definitely try it again when I grow out my nails. But don't worry for those that have shorter nails you can stick on clear nails or get your manicurist to do these Louboutin nails for you.
